Hi everyone.  Best wishes with the new forum, I think it will have a lot to offer.

As a long-term IT-type, and someone who has lived on forums since 1992, I thought I'd just offer a suggestion.  Given the amount of members here and the number of daily posts, I think the forum needs condensing into far fewer categories.  To begin a forum with as many categories as members just makes it all hard work for the reader and it gives the appearance of it being a sleepy hollow.  That's not at all conducive to attracting new members. (Yes, I am aware of the 'view posts since last visit' option btw).

Thanks Nebbia. Hopefully the forum will develop a lot more in the coming months, as Admin tweaks it. Always good to have other views.

.. let it run and see how it goes... For such a few members I have difficulty keeping up with the posts compared to some forums I've seen/use...

Welcome Nebbia. I'm letting everyone have their own way at the moment and we'll see where it goes. It's very new so let's see what happens. If the categories don't get used then they'll get axed.

At the minute people keep asking for more!!!

Hi Nebbia and welcome! As others have mentioned, we are hopeful that member numbers will keep on growing. Perhaps it is a bit early to ascertain the number of categories that we will need. And if we have a large "General Chat" category, it becomes difficult to find threads. Perhaps we need to see how it evolves...

I noticed that as the input and topics increase it is necessary to use the ''Post since last Visit'' toggle, to simplify what one's been following. Having said that Admin (Penny) you are doing a wonderful job so far.
Keep away from the dictatorial Ronald/Gestapolina method of Webmastering.....

I think it's really starting to work well - growing as quickly as the Italy Mag effort is dying.  If Italy mag really want to focus their efforts on Facebook, they're missing a huge trick.
