Has anyone tried....
'Dorwests' skullcap and valarian tablets on their dogs / cats to help with anxiety, be it thunder, fireworks, car sickness and the like and if you have did they work ? I have tried pheramone spray and collar but neither of them seem to have much of an effect. Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Has anyone tried....
My dog groomer [Shows at Crufts etc, also Judges at international shows, typical 'mad dog woman'] only ever uses 'human' remedies - she says you pay through the nose for 'doggie' ones. So her advice is - pop to the Chemists or go on line.
She also recommends giving the dog the adult dose [we were discussing travel sickness pills when she offered that advice]

We were advised to give our 30Kg collie an adult dose of diazepam before driving from the Uk to Italy. He was epileptic and the idea was if we reduced the stress, he was less likely to fit. Not sure if this helps at all.

Quite a few human medications are suitable, in the right dosage, for pets. This is an American guide, but in many cases the EU name of the drug is the same https://www.drugs.com/slideshow/giving-human-medicine-to-pets-1076
For anxiety, Diazepam or Valium is the standard medication.

And for elderly dogs suffering from arthritis and mobility problems, this French product is SUPERB! http://www.the-parapharmacy.com/it/pet-food-assistenza-e-cura-la-salute-delle-articolazioni/1083-clement-thekan-arthrosenior-boite-de-60-comprimes-3595897787631.html
It was recommended by a French chemist and we used it for our doggy and all my friends are also buying it for their dogs. A wonderful product. I have seen the results on elderly dogs who were experiencing pain and mobility problems.

Re: Has anyone tried....
Thx alan h and F Bower for that and of course Gala for pointing out 'human medicines in the right dose' can be used on animals...However the 'skullcap and valarian natural remidies' do sound appealing, and no trips to the vets needed for the likes of Diazepan. Out of interest F Bower what was prescribed for travel sickness ?
