Helping those affected by the earthquake
If anyone feels they would like to help those affected by the devastating earthquakes of the last week (there has been no bigger quake in Italy since 1930 - just to put it in perspective), then here are some concrete suggestions:
If you want to help the affected businesses in Umbria/Marche (especially Norcia) then please buy prosciutto and salamis from Norcia.
Norcia Salumi; Norcineria Felici; Lanzi; Salvatori; Brancaleone; Morelli to name a few.
Search for them in the shops or host a salami party and ask people to bring some. Many sell online though I have no idea if that is still up and running given the circumstances.
Donate to a fund to restore the hospital in Amandola which is the ONLY hospital in the mountains. It is constantly threatened with closure and has been severely damaged. If it closes, people in the affected areas will have a journey of well over an hour on mountainous roads to get to A&E. You can learn more here.
Donate via this FB page to money my friends in Amandola who are raising to help animals in need in the area. They have already raised many thousands of Euro and distributed food, medicine and equipment to Amatrice and now the need is closer to their own home (which has been declared uninhabitable). Every euro goes directly to the animals. You can donate directly via Paypal to this address [url=earthquakepetsinitaly@gmail.com]earthquakepetsinitaly@gmail.com

Brava P,
In Falerone, you may know?, people are sleeping in sports halls, a lot of the villages in the general Amandola area are closed to traffic, a worrying time indeed !
