Prune or not to prune

Post by Vicino on Mon Dec 05, 2016 8:26 am

I am a RUBBISH gardener............I do however have a very nice flowering plant which is getting very 'leggy' and ideally I would like to cut off the old wood and hopefully it will return in all it's relative splendour in the spring, should I cut it back hard or just nibble at it ?

It is a perennial (apparently) and it is named  Gaillardia aristata

It has been managing to live with us for three years so far !

Any ideas out there ?

Cheers,

I fit was me, I would wait until early Spring then cut it back by one third, then take the other 'leggy' shoots down to a few inches, preferably above a bud....just a guess...Good luck V
