Any suggestions on what to do with mail at our UK address whilst in Italy for 90 days? We live in a flat with outside (very small) postboxes and have no-one to check the mail for us. Post Office in UK will only do Post Restante for 2 weeks so it looks like our only option is to redirect mail to our Italian address. Don't actually get much mail now with everything online but there is always something. Just wondered whether anyone else has had the same dilemma?

Have you spoken to your local Post Office? presumably they should be the ones to advise you.

Our's just piles up so we can't open the door when we get back! However, we have a house and understand your problem with a small box. I spoke to our sorting office to see if they could keep our mail for us but they said they couldn't. Perhaps get a Mailboxes box in the UK and send everything there. Don't think I would have much confidence that the mail would catch up with you in Italy before you returned to the UK.

We use keepsafe ( post office)which you can only use for 66 days so we start it after we have left and time the re delivery for when we return. I don't know if that would be useful in your circumstance

I hadn't heard of Keepsafe - it looks as though it may be useful, although it is a shame that you can't access your mail during a quick visit, you have to cancel the contract and start again.  Thanks for the info.

Thanks for all your replies. Keepsafe sounds just what we were looking for and it would at least cover 60 of the days we are away. Working our way through all contacts in an attempt to go paperless as far as possible as well!

Can you not get a neighbour to forward the post on for you?

You say it isn't a lot and a couple of decent bottles of wine, and money for postage, would probably suffice.

Also pre-addressed sticky labels would help
