Vet near Coreglia / Bagni si Lucca
Hi, I’ve just found this site and picked up some great information already! We have recently bought a house near Coreglia Antelminelli and are bringing our 2 dogs over with us for Christmas. I’ve got the passports and they’ve had their jabs but I need to find a vets nearby that I can email or call - ideally English speaking so that I can book them in for their tapeworm treatment between 27-30th Dec. I’m having lessons but only very basic Italian speaking at the moment so would really like some advise if anyone can help?

Welcome Sam. I hope you and your dogs are very happy in your new home.
We also bring our dog (previously dogs ) with us to our Italian home and have always found our local vets more than helpful. However they don't provide the worm pills (Quantex, Milbemax, Drontal etc) so you need to bring them with you.
The other good news is that ours only charge €20-30/dog whereas in France (I believe) charges of €200 are not unknown.

Thank you, I will give them a call tomorrow and see if I can be understood enough to book an appointment. Alternatively to ask for an email address where I can plan my wording!
Do you buy the tapeworm treatment here & take it over with you then?

Hi Sam
No need to bring your own Pills, after all we're not in a 3rd World Country, all Vets around here have treatments that fulfill the requirements to treat Echinococcus contrary to what Ghiro says, in fact unless they are an approved make/variety they will probably not sign off on your Pet Passport. Anyway they are dirt cheap and our Vet only charges €30 to visit our house, administer the treatment and sign off on the Passport and give the dogs a thorough check over.

Thank you Flip. I rang and spoke to the vets earlier and he explained that I don’t need an appointment but just go along during their opening times advertised. I was expecting it to be like our vets where you ring and speak to a receptionist who books in appointments.
