Thanks for that Steve. It's lonely when you're left out of the loop!
B&B&B. What an excellent idea. Now what do I have to offer in exchange for a weeks holiday.........?

bed bartering!?
for some this article could prove misleading. The reason is that the (sedimentary and regionalized) legislation governing B&B's in italy sets some parameters that make it more understandable.b&b's in Italy are NOT considered a business.Providing that (see different regions even though they are generally similar) there are no more than 3 guestrooms. That no home cooked food is served/provided ( they do not have the sanitary requisites)That the owners live on the premesis. That they do not conduct the activity for more than a certain number of days per year (which varies/see regions) and is not many can't remember but it could be 90>120 days max. They are obliged however to register guests presence with comune/police.They are exempt from VAT (but of course cannot claim it)and they are obliged to pay income tax on monies received.Naturally many of these things can and are abused. We,on the other hand are an agriturismo.we have 7 rooms,an industrial kitchen and are subject to regular health inspections ,receive and pay VAT,register guests, issue official receipts or invoices, keep registers, are open all year.It would be impossible for us to start taking guests in exchange for a bunch of flowers or bagpipe lessons or whatever the authorities would immediately assume "occultamento" of income (hidden income)and send a surreal fine...........
Re: Skills for bed
As Sebastiano implies, Italy needs to implement laws that can be both fair and equitable for all concerned. The present system lends itself to abuse.

Re: Skills for bed
Thanks Sebastiano great detailed information. The only problem I see with the law as detailed here is the fact it varies from region to region. Some people will always look to abuse the system no matter how good it may be.

Re: Skills for bed
What are the rules about a house exchange. For example I offer a week in Tuscany for a week say in Greece or wherever. No money would exchange hands just the accommodation.
