Quad bikes
Hi there
Got a bit of field which needs cutting about twice a year. The cost and hassle of getting someone locally to do this means that we are considering getting a 2nd hand quad bike and flail mower and doing it ourselves. At the mo looking at ebay uk since we assume that Italy won't have much of a 2nd-hand market in these things. And it's got to be a proper farm one rather than the poncey boy racer things we see around us in Marche So:
1. Am I right that it'll be easier to find what I'm looking for in the UK (I'll think about shipping it out later!)
2. Of course once it's in situ I can think of several members of my family who will want to take it out on the white roads. Anyone know whether they count as normal roads and therefore any vehicle using them has to be "road legal"?? Or are they in the same category as UK farm tracks?
Not sure if this is the right place so will also put in the Gardening thread
Ta for any help

Re: Quad bikes
Not sure if this fits with your solution, but have you though about getting Goats?

Re: Quad bikes
Thanks Flip - goats would be more ecologically sound and probably cheaper but:
Would eat the hedges and other shrubs that we have painstakingly planted (currently v small plants and one of the reasons we've given up trying out locals because they just mow over the top of them...)
No way of keeping them in
We're not there all the time
Less fun for zooming up and down the white roads

Direct shipping to Italy
During my search for the above boys' toys (how very dare you...they are vital farm equipment ) I came across this site
http://www.buydirect4u.co.uk/
They deliver direct to Italy and seem to stock just about everything. Flail mower to Italy delivery cost = £150
Helpful on phone - have delayed delivery so that I'll be there to receive it.
So far so good: I'll let you know if it actually arrives
