Mycorrhizal Fungi
Over the last 8 years we've planted 30-40 olive trees at Casa Ghiro. Although all but one have survived I'd be pushed to describe their growth as vigorous.
Talking to a gardening expert t'other day he was telling me that he had planted a number of olives in SW England a few years back using Mycoorhizal Fungi http://www.rootgrow.co.uk/mycorrhizal-fungi.html and the trees have positively thrived!
A good tip? Has anyone any experience of using it?

Not as I'm biased or anything (or got any financial gain to be had), but last year we did a large promotion for these guys Carbon Gold who use Mycorrhizal fungi along with carbon and coir and I can honestly say that the product is brill having seen the results. Soil Association approved eco friendly etc etc. that stuff really does work if added to newly planted trees and shrubs.

Nor me neither Flip. And the good news for the 'worried well' is that it doesn't cause athlete's foot, thrush, ringworm or jock itch!Flip wrote:Not as I'm biased or anything (or got any financial gain to be had)......

Yes ghiro, I use it all the time.....called 'rootgrow'....for the garden when planting....small packets available in all Garden Centres, enough in a pack for 10 trees / shrubs cost approx £10 a packet....also available in larger quantities...

Re: Mycorrhizal Fungi
I was reading about it in a book about fungi and mushrooms and it seems to be wonderful. Here is some information about it and I think that I would give it a try, Ghiro.http://www.organicgardening.com/learn-and-grow/garden-s-homegrown-ally
