A few 1000 sqm of land - how to maintain...
Was quite lucky, that I managed to get most of the grass cut on Friday and then the rest on Sunday, ( about 4000 sq mtrs) plus a lot of the laurel hedge. Rain and cloud here again now, so a few more bits left to tidy up!!!
Really a Geotherm post, but thought it worth asking, how do you look after a lot of land. People looking to buy here need to think about this when buying... If you are buying as a holiday home, part and part or living there you need to think long and hard about coping with a lot of land in our opinion.... What do others do/think... We have around 8000 sqm by the way...

I have a ride on mower and can cut the 4000 sq mtrs in about 3 hrs. I usually try to get on top of it as soon as it starts to get high, so may take a while longer initially, but then it is once a week in the cooler months and maybe once or twice a month when the temps rise.

Certainly we would find a ride on mower good for part of the land, but some bits are too steep, with difficulty they can be done with the hand held petrol mower, but for most we use a strimmer...

I've no idea how big the garden is but it takes many hours to tame! Too steep for a ride-on mower so, like others, it's a mixture of strimming and walking behind a petrol mower.
Assuming the sun shines from time to time it's not a problem when we're here. The trouble starts when we're elsewhere for more than a couple of weeks

We have some fairly steep parts, but can go up at a angle so no problem. Usually only use the strimmer for the bits around the fence.stevegwmonkseaton wrote:Geotherm wrote:I have a ride on mower and can cut the 4000 sq mtrs in about 3 hrs.
