Anyone with an Italian bank account....
.... might want to look at this Abruzzolutely forum post Abruzzolutely post LINK and check their account. It may be just an extra LARGE charge for non resident a/c's... I'm not too sure this has not come up before, but it's the first I've heard of people being charged...

Just checked our bank account on-line and nothing similar appears there.

Re: Anyone with an Italian bank account....
Nothing new. Non-resident accounts are more expensive. I do not look after finances, so I asked hubby. Response: "Yes, we pay extra fees and charges, and I do not worry about these. They sort out quite a lot of things for us, they look after direct debits and they are very helpful. An extra trip to Italy to sort out things will be more expensive. I you want sevice you must pay for it". And I think that he is right.

I suppose it depends on your bank and also on the type of account you have.
I have no idea what sort of account we have! All I know is that from time time we get interest on the huge amount of money we have in our current account. This interest can be as much as €2/year!
Also we have devastating bank charges. If these amount to €10/year I'd be mighty surprised!

I agree some charge a lot more than others here, but I think you will be surprised G! In any case you are still paying 10x more than you would in the UK!

Sorry "G" I should have deducted your €2 interest, so 8x more than the UK.... By the way I hope you paid your tax on the €2...

Re: Anyone with an Italian bank account....
Here is a good summary Conto non-residenti
I guess that each bank has its own rules and charges. I know that our bank account does not pay any interest.

Re: Anyone with an Italian bank account....
From what I've read, it is as I thought, there should be no additional charge on the introduction of this SEPA DD, therefore either the original OP has misunderstood their statement or the bank is indeed pulling a fast one. Checking our banks charges, they have this on them, but the amount is the same as RID (their old DD system)
