PALIO DELLA BALESTRA IN BAGNI DI LUCCA

In June every year, the Vicaria della Val di Lima holds its "Palio della Balestra". We have been attending it practically every time it has been held and local people have put a lot of work into it so that it becomes a memorable day. A few good photos are better than a thousand words, so I am "borrowing" Debra Kolka's entry in her blog as those photos can't be beaten. Enjoy!

Sadly missed it this year due to other commitments, but our neighbour said a good time was had by all.

It was great! The chocolate making demonstration as it was done in the 16th Century was most interesting and the kitchen of the Buonvisi Palace provided the right stage. It is improving every year, although it needs more promotion. I am sure that many more people would attend if they knew about the event. Well, perhaps next year...
