Do Ants Develop Resistance?
Help! For the first time in 6 years we have an infestation of ants in our kitchen. And I know exactly where they're getting in through the walls and where their nests are. So I've been dousing them with liberal quantities of Raid 'Schiuma Scarafaggi e Formiche' spray (one tin that is red and the other gold - but otherwise identical).
Success? Nope. The ants laugh in my face.
I can only conclude that over time, like some bacteria to penicillin, the ants have developed resistance to the Raid spray.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? And, if so, have they found a solution other than the effective (but messy) Baygon 'polvere'?

Re: Do Ants Develop Resistance?
ghiro,
This year for the first time, the ants are certainly fighting back at our place. Outside near where we take a cool beer or two................LOADS of ants (mainly after dead snails me thinks !).........they do not like the messy polvere, but they keep coming back.
I think there must be millions of them underground.

Sorry, ghiro, ants are very difficult to contro. This link explains it very well Ant control
By the way, the article comes from an American university, but EU ants behave in the same way.

I find the little blighters a nuisance in my orto they steal the slug pellets for food, so I got some Bayer ant control, the pink sugar pellets and now they steal them, but keep coming back for more, it doesn't seem to kill them off.
