Well if you want any chance...
Well if you want any chance of supporting a winning team I think I would go for Italy! However I would not be surprised (unlikely odds but...) to see them both go straight out...!!!Vicino wrote:Should I support Italy or England ?V

Re: WORLD CUP
Well if we were to watch any of it, Italy is the place to do so. We watched a couple of the Euro's last year (only because friends wanted company). A local bar had a large screen outside, balmy night and Italy v England was a joy to attend. Probably 100 or so people crammed in to this place, only 4 vocal English... and the Italian people were just lovely... We therefore went to watch the next 2 games and enjoyed and lamented (last game their 4-0 defeat) with them...

Re: WORLD CUP
Group D is very tough. I would not worry too much about Costa Rica, but Uruguay is a very good team. We shall see...

Oh dear...
Oh dear Geo a wobbly ball man? Perhaps we need an Emoticon smily face in a rugby ball shape... But I totally agree they are overpaid little boys who have never grown up!Geotherm wrote:Could not give a monkeys to who wins it, just a load of overpaid prats in my opinion.

Re: WORLD CUP
Trouble is Steve that they think they are pariahs, Loads of money a little talent, but after all money rules and the clubs pay for these idiots millions. I would not even care if they smashed themselves up in one of their supercars, but sure insurance will pay.stevegwmonkseaton wrote:Oh dear Geo a wobbly ball man? Re: WORLD CUP
I also think they're overpaid and under talented - I will however be watching them (as long as it's on in the bar/square) and will be one of the handful of England supporters in our village as we will have just made our permanent move! The start time has now thankfully been brought forwards but the game still doesn't start till 12.00pm!!! Siesta in the afternoon for sure!!! I don't think for one minute we stand a chance but maybe just maybe they might step up to the mark and who knows…...
Re: WORLD CUP
You should support teams.
However, when England plays Italy, you should support the country you feel closest to your heart.

I partly agree, but these days I would prefer to try to support the most deserving team i.e. the one that plays the best. Although I agreed with the overpaid, I don't agree they have no talent, football today like most sports is very talented. However I do find it difficult to ignore my tribal side when England are involved, this is a lot worse these days if they are playing Italy...

Well I would not often bet against the bookies... and Spain are way down in 5th in the betting. They are very good, but think South America might be a step too far, especially as no European team has ever won the footie world cup over there. Not surprising that Brazil are favourites to win

Re: WORLD CUP
Perhap you will be right. After all, the locals maintain that "God is Brazilian" and we al know that divine intervention is very helpful.

Re: WORLD CUP
Quite looking forward to it for a change, especially reading the above. Definitely going down to the local to watch the Italy v England match, only problem is that it is a 3km hike back up a hill! Not sure who we will support, depends on whether the locals are friendly!

Re: WORLD CUP
Better take a torch if it's a dark walk... Kick off is not until midnight locally in Italy, so you are looking at a very late finish...molinello wrote:Quite looking forward to it for a change, especially reading the above. "Hi! Stay until the next game!"
Sounds a great idea!!!
But seriously, one of the great pleasures of life is enjoying your ice cold beer during the summer heat, and watching World cup football.

Re: WORLD CUP
Problem being that due to time difference most matches will be in the evening in Europe, but hopefully it will be warm enough to sit outside with a Beer and Mozzies...#

Anyone wanting the details and you have spreadsheets then search in Google for it here Google search LINK There are loads of them, but you need to watch what times they are using, some let you set your own time zone, others default to their country of origin and some are just GMT....

Re: WORLD CUP
I need help here. Do England need to build a team for the World Cup in Brazil - or build a stadium?
