Tre random charges Empty Tre random charges

Post by Patf Sat May 09, 2015 5:34 am

I have just started using Tre as my mobile network in Italy. I signed up for the All-in-one 400 plan, and then added Super Internet (for an extra 3gb of data a month). The charges are supposed to be 2.50 euro a week for the all-in-one plan, and 5 euro a month for the extra data. My credit though has been reducing at an alarming rate, including random charges for content which I have not agreed to. Here's an example:

Contenuti sotto copertura 3 H3G Italy Vd_AS_DS01_abb 1 5.00 0.00

Has anyone had similar experiences with Tre? I've searched several times and cannot find any way to see what this bogus content is, and what I can do to prevent further charges in the future. Another 5 euro has been deducted from my account today. My credit was supposed to last two months, but the way things are going, it will barely last a month. Cheers, Pat.

A quick Google of what you quote came up with this LINK which seems to indicate you need to visit TRE and ask them to switch off all pay for services you have not asked for... There were many results for the text you give, so I suspect it's a major problem. If it's a smart phone and you are not doing so, you need to treat it like a PC i.e. anti-virus software, banner blocking and any other method of blocking sites it has available.... Welcome by the way Smile

Thanks. I followed the link, and as you say, this appears to have happened to many other Tre customers. I was looking at an app - ESPN - when a banner ad popped up. I exited straight away, without agreeing to any paid-for services. Then next day five euro disappeared from my account. At no stage did Tre tell me what this charge was for, or offer the option of cancelling the service. I cleared all history and data from my browser. But five more euro went from my account this morning. I am not sure how Tre gets away with helping its customers to be defrauded. Even if I do get a refund, I am very tempted to switch to another provider.

It ahppens on all networks, call adviser, voicemail, callback - none of them are included in the plans and so you find your credit shrinking for no reason.  I have 'International plan' with 300 mins to Europe, plus 100 sms a month, but it doesnt include sms to europe which cost 99 cents each, I discovered...... uffa

Something very similar happened to me a couple of years ago with a Vodafone SIM in a wifi modem. Fortunately I was keeping an eye on this SIM through the Vodafone website, and when I called up Vodafone to ask what these (2) €5 charges were I didn't understand the explanation but she refunded them. It happened once more, and that time they refunded the charge and gave me an extra €5!

So, it's worth complaining  Smile

It's not clear whether or not Patf lives permanently in Italy.  We're in Italy 5-6 months/year.

Our solution in Italy was to buy a cheap retro-Nokia.  €25 or so which we have on 'pay as you go'.  Really cheap for making and receiving (short) phone calls and for texting our friends and contacts with Italian numbers.

For the internet we use Clouditalia which costs us €20/month for 7 meg (although we seldom enjoy such download speeds)!

OH has a UK Vodafone iPhone which costs £3/day in Europe if you use it for telephone calls/texts/data roaming - but only on the days it's used.  So you need to decide when you're going to make calls to the UK (for example) and make them all in the same 24 hour (midnight to midnight) period.  £3 only and your usage is counted against your existing UK contract.

So, by using this policy, we have no unexpected deductions or charges. Smile

Pat my Italian is not that good, so I used Google to translate this 3 page and this one for the superinternet There is no roaming unless "at home" applies , the internet on the 400 package seems to have a 500mb per week limit and the other is only 100mb per day limit... I'm assuming they have told you both option are compatible as many do not seem to be... So you will need to know the cost of going outside of these limits in addition to any other charges. There is a "NOTE" button at the bottom of both these pages, which is naughtily the hidden important detail...
