IWBank online or Citibank euro account
Having bought a property to restore almost 2 years ago I have been using IWBANK largely because it was easy to set up online from the UK and also it has been very competent. I am however contemplating transferring from HSBC to a main Citibank uk current account and therefore free euro account but wondered if I'd he able to set up Enel payments etc online? I have already experienced with a UK euro account the annoyance of having online purchases in euros being converted into GBpounds and then back into euros at huge loss to me so am wondering whether I should also keep a euro account out of the UK to avoid this problem. Paying recently on Ryanair I noticed a sneaky hidden box to unclick to avoid Ryanair doing a conversion hut wasn't sure whether this was also the bank choosing to take a cut in going along with a double conversion.

Also what does 'giro competenze' mean on a bank statement please? Dictionary isn't helping on this one!

You need to look at the detail on your bank site....
Sure I read somewhere ENEL would not accept external bank payments, but if they have an IBAN I can't see why. However I would check this "free Euro" a/c to make sure payments such as this are free.... As for the ryanair using their own conversion, in my opinion they should be done for this blatant hidden extra! I always un-tick the box and have checked the difference it's about 4-5% (not really that much when you pay so little, but I would rather they did not have it...). This and the fact a flight from Italy to the UK is the same in Euro as it is in pounds e.g. €99 flight is £99 depending where/how you book, so booking from the UK, it's best to book the return separate ....rachel68 wrote:Having bought a property to restore almost 2 years ago I have been using IWBANK largely because it was easy to set up online from the UK and also it has been very competent.
