Solar Installation Empty Solar Installation

Post by mlinsin Sun Aug 19, 2018 9:00 pm

Hi,

we have recently acquired a 2 hectar uliveto that has a small annex building of about 30 sqm with about a 30 sqm sloped roof that is facing south.
There is power from ENEL to the annex and we are planning to make the annex a bit more livable and use it in the summer on the weekends

Part of this idea is to actually put a small solar system on the Annex roof to

1) be able to produce the energy we use in the annex in a sustainable way
2) to eventually feed some of the electricity back into the grid to earn a bit of money (even if it is only 50-100 EURO a month)

So here are my questions

1. Is it even possible to install a roof solar system on an existing annex in an uliveto (agricultural land)?
I see many solar panels in large fields so I assume some farmers have decided to use their land to produce solar income

2. Does anyone have experience with the ENEL solar kits that you can find here?
https://www.enelx.com/it/en/e-shop/smart-home/photovoltaics-energy-storage

They seem to be turn-key solutions (installation) and since we will consume only very little power, I think this can be a very interesting option
Does anyone have experience with these?

Thanks for any information in advance

Solar Installation Empty Re: Solar Installation

I've done a few solar installations so I guess I'd better have a go at your questions.  Groundbased systems are no longer allowed so your roof should be fine as that is actually all that is allowed. You should note that incentives are based on tax relief - so not much good if you don't pay tax in Italy.   If you are going to be using the building frequently you might consider a system based on second hand panels .. A full write up of one I did is on a recent newsletter   https://originaltwist.com/2017/09/30/heating-news-autumn-2017/
This neat little system has been working well for a year and runs a little tiny house/shed.... the 1.2kW is punchy enough to run stuff like a hedge trimmer.... and it is cheaper than the Enel job despite including some really nice batteries.
