question about solar power
I hope someone out there can answer my question. We have just rented a garage to keep our vehicles in, but there is no power there. My husband wants to know if anyone has experience of using a 12volt solar powered system for charging a car/motorbike battery? I am sure there is someone who knows the answer?

If you don't get an answer here, try the web... This came up under using solar to charge a car battery LINK

Re: question about solar power
Sorry for the late response on this. I'm just catching up on forum posts after a bit of an absence.
I just wanted to report that we bought one of these in a failed attempt at reviving our car battery after being away for a month. Next time we do this, I will connect up the solar trickle charger and see if it is enough to keep the battery from running out but I suspect it will never be enough to revive a battery that is truly dead.

Re: question about solar power
Did you disconnect the car battery when you were away? A friend here with a rather large car was away 4-5 month over the winter and had done so - it started first time when reconnected! Mind you this summer he came here and left his lights on < an hour and it would not start....
