It is interesting to see that such a contemporary media is helping Latin to become again a "lingua franca". But then, this is also due to the high levels of popularity enjoyed by Pope Francis. Have a look Tweets in Latin

Learnt Latin for 5 years, but that was 50 years ago. Have forgotten most of it now, as it rarely used. Sad  Sad

Same here, although I remember quite a bit and it has helped me with other foreign languages. It should have become "lingua franca" a long time ago, instead of trying to do that with Esperanto... Actually, most modern technology vocabulary has Latin etymology.
