'Gherkin'
I was surprised to learn that Londons modern iconic 'Gherkin' building has been sold to a Brazilian as its previous owners were unable to honour the debts incurred when they bought it, it's sad when our heritage falls into foreign hands....I don't suppose it wil lbe long before Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament are sold to the highest bidder !

Angela, I think you'll find that most of central London, especially in the commercial side, that property is owned by ''Foreigners'' as it appears they have all the cash. I also think that the Shard and Cheese Grater are funded by foreign business.

Well Steve, the royal family stayed put during the war so dont think they will be going far...The contents of the Houses of Parliament could well go to Brazil but I do like the Gherkin and would miss it...Flip, you are right, most of central London is owned by people from across the sea.....think the Gherkin was previously owned by a German Co ?

Over the last 35 years most of Britain now belongs to people from overseas - water, electricity, trains, roads - you name it. I think there's only John lewis left.
