Rome to Sicily
Michael Portillo is clutching his Bradshaw's guide as he travels from Rome to Sicily tonight on BBC 2 at 10:00pm CET.
Could be worth watching?

Re: Rome to Sicily
If it were any other presenter perhaps, but Portillo annoys the bejeebas out of me with his sickly voice. A very knowledgeable chap but the persona of a Ferret's sphincter.

Impressive on the back of a 1959 Vespa through Rome! But the rest, well some of the views were beautiful....

Re: Rome to Sicily
We all have our own expectations of a TV programme but not having an in depth knowledge of a ferret's sphincter I cannot comment on the persona of Michael Portillo, however I enjoyed this programme much more than 'Secret Italy'.

Well. The 1908 earthquake and tsunami that devastated Messina were news to me.
Otherwise, for me, a deeply disappointing programme. Sorry I mentioned it!

Yeah Ghiro the Earthquake was one of the most devastating in Italian history Messina Earthquake.
The following Tsunami added to the devastation, which wiped out most of the remaining buildings.

Further to the above (and ignoring the ferret's sphincter) tonight on BBC4 our Michael was in Paisley (Scotland) where he investigates the connection with Barga (Italy).
I enjoyed! http://tvguideuk.telegraph.co.uk/showing.php?showing_id=103779208&channel_id=742
