Asking this on behalf of a friend....re: the opera in Macerata.  Where is the best place to sit?  How does it work?  Do you take food / chairs (the alcove areas don't look like there is any fixed seating.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

no you don't take food neither seating, it is (seating that is)provided.you can actually go to the place from january to look at the seating plan and book (best)seats.we have some swiss guests one of whom comes every year in train from zurich to macerata (!!) to do just this.I believe you can also do it on line.Some of the better restaurants in macerata near by keep special post opera times too.(good seats are not too cheap either)
