Italian car insurance
Would appreciate any "ball park guestimates" of car insurance costs of Italian registered and licensed vehicle of approx. E30,000 value? Neighbor pays E700 for really basic "3rd party" insurance on a car valued at E8,000.
Thanks,
Fred

No idea Fred, but perhaps you could use Directline Italia to get an idea (not that I would suggest you use them).

Re: Italian car insurance
As well as trying Direct Line, if you go online there are comparative websites as well as direct insurers. Haven't got the one I have used. However, for a new small car, Quixa (part of AXA) came out best if you had their tracker fitted - approx 2/3 of their quote without the tracker. Approx E800 incl roadside assist etc fully comp for a new car with no no claims discounts.
A lot will depend on the car and engine size etc as well as the driver and where you are and whether you have any no claims discounts.

Re: Italian car insurance
Fred it does depend on how many claim free years you have in Italy (via Italian Insurance on your L'attestato di rischio) which will make a big difference. To give you a rough idea though I pay €1300.00 3rd Party + windscreen and Legal cover, on a new car valued at €37k with 3 years NCD. Make sure you have a seat when you get your quote.

Flip,
thanks for your input. If claim free does not include one against another driver's insurance, have had none in 10 years in Italy (German insurance) and since the late 60's, none. Very clean driving record, no tickets in Italy, and only two over the years in Europe. Am leaning towards the Renault lease program for non-EU residents.
