HALLOWEEN 2013 AT BORGO A MOZZANO

Halloween was not a traditional celebration in Italy; however, times do change, and the clever people from Borgo a Mozzano, between Lucca and Bagni di Lucca, have managed to create a fabulous festival that attracts lots of people from all over Italy. I have been told that there is a regular group coming all the way from Sicily! Borgo a Mozzano is a lovely old town on the banks of the Serchio River and they have a great asset, ideal setting for this festival: the Devil's Bridge or Ponte della Maddalena, a glorious medieval bridge built by Countess Matilde di Canosa, "the Great Countess" back in the 11th Century, which allowed pilgrims and sick people to come to Bagni di Lucca (then Bagni di Corsena) to take the curative waters.
