Pizza ovens Empty Pizza ovens

Could be property I guess, but like many here in the houses we have seen in Abruzzo, our pizza oven is well away from the house - in the garden so to speak. What started as a curiosity and desire to cook our own pizza, having a massive oven and all is now a commonly used bit of kit. Not only is it a pleasant experience, it's also one of the many sensible Italian things for controlling the heat. We use the oven most often in the summer for cooking anything that normally would go in the house oven to avoid the extra heat. A number of others we know never use their oven and normally they say because it's too hard to control. Well I can honestly say we've probably only had two real disasters in the time we've used it, which is many (probably 2-3 times per week in hotter periods). When we first started it was simply "pizza day", where we would have a few friends around and make dough , roll, top your own pizza and then cook it yourself (those that wanted to). Of course wine, beer and fires don't really mix too well, but we did still have one or ten...

Does anyone else use one, have any tips, warnings or fond memories? This is one of the many website LINKs we looked at when starting out, we've learnt a lot more since and are still doing so... Smile
