At the bottom of the forum you will see there is a shortcut that says CONTACT. Yes, Steve, it is the IPad, and, amazingly, I did not do anything special to it. I simply logged in.... And bingo!

Then I even more suspect this is a result of this problem. I've had a quick look and there does not seem to be any conclusive information as to when a DNS entry expires. They do and once any corrupt entry expired you would again get access, however you don't have to wait that long. I did find a site that tells you how to reset your network settings that will fix it, but it seems a bit drastic as it resets ALL of them including your wifi passwords. THIS LINK indicates there is a way of doing so without such hassle, but does not say exactly how to run the command. Hopefully it will not happen again, but it has happened with me twice now on the same site - i.e. the forum... At least I know now how to fix it in seconds (on windows).

Thanks, Steve. It has happened to me the way you have described it. I said in an earlier post that I was going to ask Apple's Genius Bar to have a look at it; however, I was in San Francisco and very busy with family matters, it was Xmas and a couple of friends had told me that a reset had some problems, as well... I was about to switch on the old PC at home, when I decided to log in... And the miracle happened. So I would agree with your theory and keep in mind your advice. Thanks!
