Italian Internet Crash?
Oh dear! Oh dear!
We're off to Italy next week and it appears that the internet throughout Italy has crashed. The last posting on this fine forum was at 1:37pm five days ago.
Luckily we'll have room in the car for a number of homing pigeons, so at least we can keep in touch with friends and family in Blighty until normal internet services are restored.

Re: Italian Internet Crash?
I've had no internet problems here in Le Marche - a nice holiday for the pigeons though!

no internet has not crashed.interesting that amandola now has high speed optic fibre broadband ( for those who don't know is a tiny town of less than 6000 inhabitants in the foothills of the appennines in the national park) in the same week that i read that 93% of rural comunities in the uk have between ranging from no to low speed internet and that 15 million families in the uk have far less than published internet speeds available to them.you know it's not so bad here after all..

I'm stuck in Blighty at the moment so I thought you were all lounging round the pool with those drinks with little umbrellas in!

Re: Italian Internet Crash?
We too have been back in the UK or a couple of week's holiday! But despite what some have said on here I think you need a number of hard core people on a forum who post regardless of it being particularly a helpful topic (my own personal reason for a forum). Unfortunately we do not seem to have that number of hard core needed, at least 6-10. Also I do think "social media" is the way forward for most "younger" people. So long term I don't hold out much hope for this and every other forum. Personally, and despite my obvious hostility, I miss GalaP and her input. You need a broad mix of people to keep a balanced forum, apart from which Gala at times provided a lot of good information. So, in case she never comes back - thanks Gala - old dear (couldn't resist - sorry) ...

Re: Italian Internet Crash?
I agree with you Steve, I too miss Gala P, her input was always good and informative but the 'not so nice ' comments made by others can be upsetting and hurtful so I don't blame her for leaving. However, if you do read this Gala please come back, we miss you, your recipes and clever 'links'.

Re: Italian Internet Crash?
Well, Steve, I am going to contradict you... I am back! Thank you to all those who missed me. I also did, although I have been very busy. I am going to be a grandmother, for the first time, in less than a month, a beautiful (at least according to the ultrasounds, and she looks just as her mother) little girl whose name will be Octavia. Gala Placidia, Octavia's grandmother, very much Roman Empire? Don't you agree? And it was not intended...

Thanks Steve, only the Pope is supposed to be infallible... And this is restricted to matters of dogma...
