Winter Tyres and Car Insurance
A friend who is moving from the Isle of Wight to Petritoli, Le Marche, in November is looking for sources for car insurance as well as winter tyres. Any suggestions?

Re: Winter Tyres and Car Insurance
I use Quixa for car insurance but do a check every year to ensure it is still the cheapest. I can't help with winter tyres as I don't have them but do carry chains in the boot - I try not to go out when there's snow anyway! I live near Petritoli so when your friend moves out maybe we can meet up?

Re: Winter Tyres and Car Insurance
Lisa you don't say wether they are driving over or have a car already here. If they are driving form the UK I would advise buying tyres in the UK as they will need them for parts of the journey over/under the Alps, if not then any tyre fitters will be able to supply them here, as to cost, well you pays your money, you take your choice.... same applies to insurance.

Re: Winter Tyres and Car Insurance
He is planning on taking his car on his current insurance + cover for overseas use above the basic and buy some snow chains. He will buy a car in Italy and insure there, then bring his old car back for sale in the UK unless he can sell it in Italy.
Thanks Hazy and Flip!

Re: Winter Tyres and Car Insurance
Good idea about the snow chains Lisa, as he is travelling through a few countries where they are required to be carried. In Germany, it is mandatory to have the car fitted with "all season tyres" for the winter months.

For insurance over here, he could try Clements:

With regards to taking the car back to the UK to sell, then he may get a PX from a dealer here. I know someone whose RHD was taken in exchange for a 2nd hand car here, so it is possible.
