Disappointed when I see no posts
Disappointed when I see no posts, is it possible to always see at least the last "x" amount of posts from the unread search, even if they are marked read?

The reason you see "No new posts" is because there aren't any - which is a great shame.

I see that, so far, 14 members have accessed this forum today.
Perhaps there is virtue in the quality of posts, rather than quantity.

Your are right but...
Your are right but that was the suggestion (if it's possible), other forums often have no new posts and you just get the last 6-10 latest read posts. This is better than an almost blank page...Miss Demeanor wrote:The reason you see "No new posts" is because there aren't any - which is a great shame.

Spot on Ghiro, nobody wants to log on and see a post about there being no posts !!ghiro wrote:I see that, so far, 14 members have accessed this forum today.

It is up to forum members to ensure that there are 'interesting' things to comment on even if only mundane things like the weather/price of petrol/recipe for sugo etc. But I wont hijack this post to ask for a fig jam recipe ....

The answer is to participate. Create new threads, ask questions, think at topics that may interest not only you, but other people. Use your imagination...

Someone go and recruit Turtle to the forum. That'll guarantee an increase in the number of posts!

Re: Disappointed when I see no posts
I think you all miss the point, it's not about seeing more post (although I'm more than happy to). I don't like getting back a "no items match your search". Just want to see something there...

Re: Disappointed when I see no posts
Perhaps you have selected "view posts since your last visit?! I have no problems viewing all posts, even the ones that I have read and answered... Just a guess

Re: Disappointed when I see no posts
Just in case this gets lost... I spotted a "Recent Posts" option on the phpBB forum, would it be possible to have this search option (even at the cost of "your posts")?

Re: Disappointed when I see no posts
Is there any real difference between 'View posts since last visit' (which we have on this forum) and 'Recent posts'?

Yes there is a difference...
Yes there is a difference... I think it was really "Active Posts" and the difference is that you will hopefully always see a post, read or not...ghiro wrote:Is there any real difference between 'View posts since last visit' (which we have on this forum) and 'Recent posts'?

Re: Disappointed when I see no posts
Steve - no point looking at the phpBB forum as we have a Forumotion customised version and it doesn't necessary apply here. Take a look at the Portal and see if what you are referring to is there already.

Re: Disappointed when I see no posts
I'm duly smacked! I've never really looked around all the rubbish (as I thought) of the forum, just want to read the posts thanks... Not sure if it exactly fits the bill, but will use it for a while... Of course my problem being that I stay logged in all the time and go back to the last page I was on each day
