Three mobile without roaming charges.
Not too sure if this would benefit anyone, but you never know. I'd read about it a while back but took no interest, however there was a discussion on the radio this morning about it now being expanded to 11 countries, latest being the USA. Three mobile LINK We tend to use mobile broadband (BB) whilst in Italy and the UK simply because of our location in both being poor for other means. For us it would be much better the other way around where WIND were offering such a deal as their mobile BB is far cheaper than the UK. However some people might find it useful as it also covers Australia and the USA now. In the report this morning the guy from Three did say they were looking to negotiate more deals with other countries. You may ask why, well he did answer that by telling everyone that their data (internet) sales with these deals had went up 1000% in the short time it's been out...

We're on 3 in the UK and I remember this deal being offered some years back. It worked superbly for a time and then 3 stopped it. I supposed, at the time, that too many people took advantage but maybe the competition is tougher now.

I cannot recommend it as yet, because I have not started using it, but I got sick of roaming charges, so I bought myself a SAMSUNG GALAXY DUAL SIM , with everything (still trying to learn how to use it... I belong to an old generation...) and I also heard about this Worldsim
which gives me a UK and a USA number with the benefits of a pay-as-you-go, easy to top up (you can do it automatically) and better roaming charges. I think that for those who travel a lot, it may be a solution. I ordered through Amazon.

Yes, I would have the same concern as they have had to negotiate these deals with each individual foreign Company(s), so it would/will depend on how long these deals have been brokered. I've used "3" in the Uk on and off for several years (well since they arrived there) and have found them ok, not fantastic. After all they are in business to make money and are trying to break in as one of big players. However I do think they are big enough already to dictate others look at what they are doing. This is going against ALL other UK firms (most world wide for that matter), additionally in the UK they are doing the opposite to the other firms by NOT charging extra for their 4G. Their game plan appears to be a bit like Google, get the numbers and your king (well at least for a day)! Like I said I don't think it's any good for those of us in Italy as Italian mobile broadband (not looked at calls) is much cheaper than the UK (well out WIND package certinl is). For those visiting the other countries it may well be worth their while.Carciofo wrote:We're on 3 in the UK and I remember this deal being offered some years back. Really? You surprise me. When we are in Italy I top up my TIM SIM card with a monthly data allowance for about €25, but here in the UK I pay £5 for an equivalent allowance - although on reflection, it may be that the £5 rate is only available to those on pay monthly contracts and not on a casual basis.
A year or so ago, I mistakenly topped up the SIM card with about €25 without specifying the monthly package and I found I had to top up the credit again within a couple of days. I won't make that mistake again.

Re: Three mobile without roaming charges.
Carciofo, €12 per month for WIND unlimited (like all here in the UK read 10GB real limit). Think the same deal is now €15/mth with WIND, but they often have these types of offer, ours was €12/mth for 5 years... Only better deal I know in the UK is fixed line and there it's not really better as you are either paying line rental or some other basic package on top.
