Shooting stars
I gather that we're currently at the height of the annual Perseid meteor shower. This is obviously visible in the UK but am I wasting my time peering into the black Italian heavens tonight?

Re: Shooting stars
Put your location in on this site Ghiro and you may be lucky to see it.

Otherwise, a few grappas and vino will always help to give the same!!

Re: Shooting stars
There seems to be, rather irritatingly, high cloud cover tonight. So I think, as you so sensibly advise Geotherm, I''ll go for the vino and grappa option and resume stargazing tomorrow. Hic!

Re: Shooting stars
It is difficult to see them, ghiro, you need the perfect night, dark, but without clouds and away from city or town lights.
The Perseids are called in Italy "Lacrime di San Lorenzo" or Tears of St Lawrence, a 3rd Century martyr, whose "crime" was to distribute help amongst the poor people in Rome.
Prosecco also works.....
