MARGHERITA HACK DIES IN TRIESTE

Margherita Hack, prominent Italian astrophysicist and popular science writer passed away today in Trieste, aged 91. A highly respected scientist, well known for her efforts to make science easy to understand, she had an asteroid named after her in 1995 in recognition for her remarkable work. May she rest in peace.

To my eternal shame, until tonight, I had never (knowingly) heard of her.
Apparently she once said: 'I have no fear of death. While we are here, death isn't. When there is death, I won't be here'!
What an inspirational woman. May she indeed rest in peace.
