Events in Apricale

The wonderful association A DRAIRA is organising some events for this winter.

So far we have had a Tango night, various parties, a ceramics course in the town's ceramics studio, a basket weaving course, a pinhole camera course, a wood-carving course - all with top quality tuition and reasonable prices. Some of these courses and workshops are specifically aimed at children too.

This is in addition to the regular town events such as the annual itinerant theatre production from the Teatro della Tossa in the summer and the Artist in Residence program plus other exhibitions and creative workshops held in the castle.

The events yet to come include the party to celebrate A DRAIRA's first birthday on 19th October from 14:30. There will be a treasure hunt for the children plus games followed by merenda. Then some live music and a sausage supper with more entertainment in the evening. It is all offered for free as usual but if so inclined, donations are very welcome.

Then on 31st October we will be having a Halloween party with fancy dress.

8th December sees the annual lighting of the bonfire which burns in the piazza continuously until 6th January when the children of the town make a big Befana and burn her on the fire. This will also involve another party with food, cake, hot chocolate etc.

28th/29th December will be a great weekend with a party round the bonfire, shows of people's work from the workshops, the donkeys may make an appearance including baby Dan. On the Sunday everyone will have the chance to try their hand at the various crafts such as wood-carving.

Who said living in a small village of 600 people would be boring?!!! I thoroughy reccommend a visit to Apricale if you are anywhere near here. We have wonderful places to stay including a diffusio hotel and some wonderful B&B's such as these and some absolutely top restaurants.
