Ventimiglia on the Dutch and BBC news this evening

Both reported that there are over 500 people including women and babies stuck between France and Italy as the French have closed their border. The Red Cross are looking after them on the Italian side apparently.

So very sad…desperate people…they want what we all want, a better life and future for their children Crying or Very sad

Think that most of the problem stems, in this case, from the Migrants not wishing to register with the Italian Authorities, as that could limit their movement and see them returned to here as that's where they landed, therefore the French are refusing entry as they are not registered EU persons. Bit of a stalemate really.

Hmm, from what I read the French also rounded up at least one coach load of illegal immigrants from Paris and dumped them in Ventimiglia. Nothing like a bit of solidarity is there?

According to our friends, the people wait at the border all day and then the Italians bring them back in coaches at night to feed them and provide a place to wash etc. Just a shocking situation and how the French can get away it, beggars belief.

Mind you the UK have been asking the French authorities to do something about the squatter camps at Calais for years but they’ve continued to ‘ignore’ requests and only recently through a European court order, have they removed and closed the camps at Calais. We’ve seen refugees running on the motorway in the middle of the night trying to hop onto moving trucks when we take the crossing from Calais to Dover. It’s terrifying to see!
