Best car hire Stansted?

I'm an Avis user by habit but 2 of the last 3 rentals were unsatisfactory due to broken gearbox and embarassing crash marks.  To be fair the third car was great - a new Renault Captur  
I'm wondering if I should change to another firm where I might I expect to get a newish car in good condition and not a tired banger.  Any suggestions and good experiences please.

I used to use Budget but they got swallowed up by avis. Now I use Hertz and cant complain. never ever use Alamo at Stansted.  I once had to use Sixt and it was ok, but my vote goes to Hertz

Avis was our preferred, but have to admit to not hiring too often recently. Used Hertz before that and likely to go back to them .Reasons are a few, but just think Avis have went back. Mind you if you are dropping of at a different place to the pick-up, then I would not trust any of them as they seem to give you their worst car to get rid of it....

We have used Enterprise for the last few years and have found them very good on price and service

I used Green Motion a couple of times, and they were good - but they are off site at the Hilton hotel, and the last time I used them they decided to charge for the trasnfer to the airport when you dropped off the car.  So I told them i would never use them again.    Just never use Alamo or its coterie of inept associates.  You will in all likelihood not have a car to pick up when you arrive.
